Four months ago, I burned out so badly I almost walked away from everything I’d been building.
I was juggling projects, chasing clients, and pulling late nights—convincing myself, “Once I hit this milestone, then I’ll rest.”
But the milestone came… and so did the next deadline.
Rest kept moving further down the road, like a reward I hadn’t “earned” yet.
Then one morning, I opened my laptop and just stared at the screen. My brain felt foggy, my body heavy. Even the smallest tasks felt impossible.
I dropped a tear and even asked God why He didn’t make my dad a billionaire. If He had, maybe I’d be living soft. Lol.
But that day, I missed a major opportunity because I had nothing left to give.
That’s when it hit me:
Rest isn’t what you do after you’ve “made it.”
It’s what fuels you to get there.
So, I took that deserved rest without a care in the world.
Think about athletes: they don’t wait until after the championship to recover; recovery is part of their training. Musicians don’t play nonstop; the pauses between the notes are part of the music.
The same is true for us. Rest sharpens your thinking. It restores your creativity. It keeps you from running on fumes and making mistakes that could have been avoided.
If you’re grinding endlessly, promising yourself you’ll take a break once you succeed… stop.
The break is part of the work.
It doesn’t even have to be long. If you’re worried about falling behind, start small, rest this weekend.
Happy weekend, fam.
