Have you ever noticed how one bad day can suddenly make your entire life feel like a bad life?
You wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Something goes wrong. Someone irritates you. Maybe the car won’t start, the computer crashes, the weather is miserable, or you get some news you weren’t expecting. And before you know it, you’re looking at everything through a completely different lens.
Suddenly, Costa Rica isn’t as beautiful as you thought it was. Your house isn’t right. Your job is frustrating. Your friends aren’t as supportive as you imagined. Your plans aren’t working. And you start wondering if you made a mistake somewhere along the way.
But here’s the thing I’ve learned.
A bad day can be a terrible storyteller.
It has a way of convincing you that today represents every day that came before it—and every day that will come after it.
It doesn’t.
Tomorrow might bring a completely different perspective. A good night’s sleep, a great cup of coffee, a conversation with a friend, a walk outside, or simply waking up with a little more gratitude can change everything.
Your life didn’t necessarily get worse today.
You may simply be looking at it through the eyes of a bad day.
So don’t make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.
Take a breath.
Let today be today.
Tomorrow gets another chance. And so do you.
