When the tide rolls in, everything changes.
The beach that was wide and quiet a few hours ago suddenly becomes smaller, the waves reach farther up the sand, and the ocean seems to remind us that nothing stays exactly the same.
Maybe that’s a lesson worth remembering.
We spend so much of our lives trying to hold on to things as they are. We want the same people, the same places, the same routines, the same comfortable version of tomorrow. But life doesn’t work that way. The tide comes in. The tide goes out. People arrive. People leave. Seasons change. Doors close. Others open.
And somehow, we keep moving forward.
Here in Costa Rica, it’s easier to see the beauty in that rhythm. You can sit beside the Pacific and watch the waves roll toward you, one after another, knowing you will never see that exact wave again.
Yet another one is already coming.
Maybe that’s what Pura Vida really means.
Not that life is perfect.
Not that nothing ever goes wrong.
But that we learn to stand on the beach, feel the warm sand beneath our feet, watch the tide roll in, and trust that whatever comes next… we can handle it.
Sometimes, all we really need to do is breathe, smile, and let the next wave arrive. Everything has a way of taking care of itself. .
