We woke to rain — me at noon after recovering from yesterday’s long bike ride around Lake Lucerne.

The weather was perfect for my eBike rental with the goal of biking around Lake Lucerne.

We decided to stay in town today.

Thursday was a lost day with literally no tourism activities as we settled in our hotel rooms -- twice!

We were, in a sense, the victims of climate change. Because of the stormy weather in Chicago, our scheduled flight from Denver was pushed back two hours, causing us to miss our connection to Zurich.

Switzerland is definitely the place to be as a new “heat dome” blankets Europe.

Rita's mother was born in Switzerland, but Rita hasn't been there since she was a teenager, and I only visited Geneva for a few hours 40 years ago. We'd love any travel tips you have!

We visited 44 ports, 20 of which I hadn't heard of before, and only eight of which Rita or I had visited on prior vacations. It was our first cruise with Silversea, and it won't be our last.
