Work is finally under way on a new housing development on Banks Road in West Kirby, following a ten year saga.

Magenta Living originally put forward proposals to develop the site of the former Ashton Court sheltered housing complex in 2016. Read more.

Lifeboat crews in West Kirby were called out four times over a four-day period as large numbers of people visited the area.

The service has also revealed that vehicles blocking launch sites and emergency access routes hampered their response. Read more.

There’s a gift and craft fair at West Kirby Library on Saturday 6 June from 10am - 4pm.

There will be gifts from local artisans, crafters and markers, and refreshments will also be served.

  • The beauty of the Wirral peninsula is being celebrated at the LAKE gallery in West Kirby. It features new paintings from Andy McFadden, Ronnie Drillsma and Fiona Philipps. The exhibition runs until Saturday 27 June and the gallery is open Thurs – Sat, 10am – 4pm

  • Hoylake & Meols Medieval Festival takes place in Queens Park in Hoylake on Saturday 6 June. There will be games and activities for all ages including people in period costume. Come and meet the medieval surgeon, enjoy medieval entertainment and medieval themed craft stalls. The event is organised by Wirral Medieval Stuff and Hoylake Border Morris and starts at 12 noon with a procession.

  • Wirral Open Studio Tour takes place over the weekend of 13-14 June, with more than 20 local artists in West Kirby, Hoylake, Meols and Caldy amongst those opening their doors. Find out more at https://wirralarts.com/.

  • Whether they bark, purr, hop, chirp, all creatures great and small are welcome at a pet service on Sunday 14 June. Hosted by West Kirby United Reformed Church and sponsored by Acorn Vets, it is taking place in the Upper Park on Sunday 14 June at 10:30am.
