Background:
A male querent asked, “Has someone else taken the project away from me?”
He had trusted the investor and completed a large amount of preliminary work without signing a contract. Later, after he refused an unreasonable request, the investor stopped responding. The querent felt that the other party was extremely unreliable and wanted to know whether the project had already been taken by someone else.
Hexagram obtained: Lv to Yu.
Judgment:
This hexagram showed that the project lacked a stable foundation from the beginning, encountered a powerful competitor, and would ultimately be lost completely.
1. The siblings line was active: a strong competitor was actively taking the project
In financial and business divination, the wife and wealth line is taken as the significator god. The siblings line, as the obstacle god of wife and wealth, directly represents competitors, industry rivals, or competing products.
In this hexagram, the sixth-line siblings F fire was active. This directly showed that a competitor had taken action to seize the project.
F fire was in a favorable position in the D month and received generation in the G year. This indicated an extremely strong competitor with considerable power and aggressive methods.
2. The wife and wealth line was in monthly break and transformed into void and extinction: decisive evidence that the project would be completely lost
The corresponding line, wife and wealth K metal, represented the project itself.
In the D month, K metal was clashed and overcome by the monthly branch, because D and K clash. This formed monthly break.
This objectively showed that the project had never been fully secured from the beginning. Its foundation was extremely weak, unstable, and subject to change.
Another wife and wealth line, J metal, was also active. It was overcome by the active siblings F fire and transformed into parents D wood.
D wood was the extinction position of J metal and also fell into void in the cycle, since C and D were void.
The wife and wealth line was overcome, then transformed into extinction and void. This was decisive evidence that the project would become empty and be completely lost.
3. The host line was restrained: the querent had no power to recover the project
The host line representing the querent was descendants E earth.
E earth was directly overcome by the D month. Although it received some support on the H day, its overall strength remained insufficient.
This showed that, faced with the project being taken away, the querent was already in a powerless position and had no realistic ability to reverse the situation.
4. Six Compatibles transforming into Six Compatibles could not rescue a damaged significator god
It is important to note that although a Six Compatibles hexagram transforming into another Six Compatibles hexagram can normally indicate successful completion, the significator god must always be analyzed first.
A favorable Six Compatibles structure depends on the significator god being prosperous and supportive and not being clashed or overcome.
When the significator god is in rest and constraint, damaged, or broken, even Six Compatibles cannot turn the situation around.
Conclusion:
The hexagram clearly showed that the project had already been taken by a competitor, or would ultimately be lost because of industry competition or the client changing direction.
There was no realistic possibility of recovering it.
As the saying goes, “Those who calculate too cleverly may ultimately be undone by their own schemes.”
Practical Advice:
1. Cut the loss promptly
The hexagram showed that the outcome had already been determined. The querent should not continue investing time and energy in trying to recover the project, as this would only create further emotional exhaustion, disputes, and unnecessary conflict.
2. Review the situation and adjust
The main hexagram, 56.Lv, carries the meaning of traveling, instability, and seeking opportunities elsewhere.
This was also a signal that the querent should release the attachment to this project and actively seek new clients and opportunities.
At the same time, he should review possible weaknesses in the quotation, proposal, working arrangement, or client relationship.
3. Prepare for competition
The active siblings line showed that competition within the querent’s industry would remain intense in the near future.
When taking on new projects, he should establish clearer agreements, protect his preliminary work, and prepare competitive safeguards in advance.
