🌐 Bridging Brands and Fans in Web3... every week

McDonald's reimagines the fast-food experience, while Shiseido's Ulé brings authenticity to beauty products.

Both are leveraging cultural & technological shifts to reach one objective:

Increased customer engagement⚡️

Let’s see how they're doing it👇

McDonald's introduces WcDonald's, a manga and anime-influenced universe for in-store experiences.

Each McDonald’s will be transformed into a gateway to iconic anime worlds.

Customers can immerse themselves in interactive AR games that animate fan favorites right at their tables.

Exclusive collectibles from beloved series can be claimed.

An industry leader diving deep into popular culture brings a fresh approach to the fast-food market.

They’re catering to the growing love for Japanese culture, offering an innovative dining experience that could set a new trend in the fast-food industry.

Doing this in an engaging way by using both gamification and AR, heightens their customers will have in store and offers more opportunities for customers to stay engaged post-purchase.

Web3 brings ownership to the virtual world. As WcDonalds are offering exclusive physical collectibles, they have an opportunity to leverage blockchain in a very similar way to Pudgy Penguins with their toy collection.

Every collectible could have a corresponding digital twin which is uniquely verifiable on the blockchain. Once there is a virtual character on-chain, it unlocks unique opportunities:

  • Engagement – personalising your character, creating a deeper connection

  • Transferability – if someone wanted to re-sell to another collector

  • Community – allowing fans to connect with each other in a more meaningful way through verifiable ownership

From here, they can begin to use Web3 for loyalty. WcDonald's could track activity both in-store and virtually, issuing exclusive digital collectibles as rewards. These could serve as limited edition items for future promotions, driving a deeper engagement through the novelty of ownership and collection.

Having a toy is cool, but you will forget about it if you lose it.

Digital assets on-chain are different. They have permanence & the power to link every visit to a larger, evolving story.

It's a way to ensure that customer loyalty is rewarded within an expansive narrative, making every interaction part of a continuous journey rather than a one-off visit.

Let’s hope to see WcDonald’s start to implement some of this thinking!

Beauty giant Shiseido partners with Arianne to features non-transferable digital product passports with Ulé.

Each product comes with a digital 'life story', tracing its origin, authenticity and journey.

In the fashion & luxury world, trust & authenticity is king. 👑

Digital Product Passports provide personal assurances of quality for every purchase.

They aim to compile information about the product and its supply chain, disseminating it throughout the entire value chain to ensure everyone has transparency on the materials, handling, ownership and the environmental footprint.

They offer a fresh level of engagement and trust, transforming the customer's purchase into a story of authenticity.

It's like giving each item a voice, telling its own unique tale - an innovative blend of storytelling and consumer assurance.

There is incoming regulation, particularly across the fashion, luxury and automotive sectors that will see Digital Product Passports be adopted more widely.

As we witness more brands embracing Web3 technologies to enhance customer engagement, one thing is clear:

The focus is shifting towards creating memorable, meaningful connections.
