Don't Tong Me, Bro

Hello, Bizarro Buddies. As you’ve come to expect on a Saturday, the latest gags are available to review on the ol’ blogeroo.

Since we last chatted, my drawing board has hosted a circus performer, robots, aquatic life, and Alexander Graham Bell, and other characters.

Another gag for the fall features a fisherman contemplating fine art.

The Guardian (then called the London Guardian) was one of my first illustration clients, and I did dozens of assignments for them. Many of my spot illustrations were featured in The Guide, a weekend arts & entertainment supplement, including this 1998 drawing of fighting chefs. My Art Director’s accent was so charming, it was a pleasure to answer the phone at 4:00 AM Pittsburgh time when he had a new gig for me. They also mailed me printed newspapers about once a month, which was a nice perk.

I’d almost forgotten that I have a stack of unused tickets from the Pittsburgh stop of the Residents’ Thirteen Anniversary Tour. I attended both the early and late shows, and afterward, the promoter gave me the remaining tickets, along with several posters.

The strip layout of Thursday’s liferaft cartoon looks more desolate. The panel showed the night sky, but in this version, the ocean extends out of frame in all directions.
