Hello again,
Summer is in full swing here with heat waves, evening thunderheads, and the desperate buzz of insects over sweaty skin. At the day job we’ve been chasing pond leaks, planting before the drought digs its claws in, and weeding, weeding, weeding. Though our own garden is far more humble, I managed to get the tomato starts in, along with some peppers and basil that are joining the spring peas, beans, lettuce and potatoes.
Writing THE PASSING OF EIR LAHREN always feels a bit like entering a fugue state, losing track of which reality I belong in, and realizing perhaps it’s a little bit of both. As a writer, I give a bit of myself to every character, every world, but Ivigh, true to form, is the one who reached in and ripped out my heart. As of Saturday evening, the revisions are with my agent and though I know there is much more work ahead, for now I’m taking a much needed break while I day dream about the next world I’ll explore.

I’m refueling with a fantastic stack of new and re-reads and some great watches. Film-wise, for Pride Month we enjoyed To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar which always amazes me, given that it was filmed in the 90’s, and I was just eviscerated by the 2026 Wuthering Heights—despite my concerns about Margot Robbie’s “iPhone face.” As for my post-deadline reading fever, I’m thrilled to dive into Pedro the Vast, Like the Appearance of Horses, and the Les Petite Morts anthology!
