I turned 50 last week.
I was born the same year our country turned 200- a bicentennial baby.
As a mom, the most recent decades of my life have wrapped around the crevices of life with children.
My 30s were all about parenting small-ish children and adjusting to life in Tennessee.
My 40s brought a low-level hum reminding me that I’m an actual whole person, with an identity that isn’t simply “mom,” I can trust my gut, and my physical body is changing suddenly and dramatically.
I’ve seen too much to predict, with any certainty, what this next decade will hold, but if I live to see 59, I will have lived longer than my mother did.

My dad and step-mom arrived from Minnesota to celebrate with me. We played cards, went to a restaurant that required reservations, and they presented me with a puzzle made up of photos of our family through the years.

I also received an invitation to join AARP.
My first reaction was horror.
My second one is to wonder how good the discounts they offer are.

The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny. This is part of Louise Penny’s Chief Inspector Gamache series. It will make you want to move to Three Pines in Canada (except, it seems to have more than its share of murder)
Everyone is Lying to You by Jo Piazza. Put this in the fiction mystery thriller category. So many folks are reading Yesteryear, a book about the tradwife movement and influencers in that space. I picked up this one because someone recommended it as a better option.
