Slow Down Chant—Being is an Art

This morning, watching the sun rise, I struggled to ground. September and now October have been incredibly busy. I needed something more than breath to support me. So I reached for an invocation I’ve sung before, and sang with the insects.

The invocation, created with a classmate for our graduation from Somatic Intuitive Healing School, invites everyone to sing along, to feel the invitation to ground, to embody love, and to repeat it as we would any somatic practice.

October is the busiest month for us in my touristy mountain town. Despite coming into the month wanting to rest, I’m being called to even greater action. So this felt like the perfect chant to give myself pockets of rest inside the chaos around me, inside a season that’s begging me to slow down, reflect, and harvest my year.

Slow down, take a breath
Slow down, let your body rest
Slow down, find your heart
Slow down, being is an art

I use my voice to call in love
I use my feet to stand in love
I use my hands to practice love
I use my heart to be love

A note on the song, if you choose to listen: It’s intended as a call and response leading into a round, where 1/2 sing one stanza at the same time the other 1/2 sings the other stanza. However, I am only one person, so couldn’t sing it overlapping ;)

Wishing you a spacious and loving week, with gratitude and wild wonder,

—jewel
