Welcome to the Unhustle Letter, Rebel!

I see you.

You’re overextended and ambitious at the same time.

Maybe you’re exhausted in a way that a vacation or a sabbatical won’t fix. Maybe you’ve hit every goal you set for yourself and still feel like something’s missing. Maybe you’re watching AI rewrite the rules of work in real time and wondering what that means for you — for your identity, your value, your future, your team.

Or maybe you just have a nagging, persistent feeling that the life you’ve built is successful by every external measure and still somehow something is still missing.

That feeling has a name. I call it the Hustle Hangover. The reason is the Default Path we’ve been following like religion - telling us how to live, how to work, who to follow, what to value.

So we keep striving. We keep running. We keep climbing.

And yet, we still keep coming back empty.

This letter exists because I’m tired of the Default path.

Every Sunday I send one letter — written from Baja California Sur, where I live and work and practice the Unhustle principles — at the intersection of modern science, ancient wisdom, and the radical act of actually living.

  • How to have an ambition and still have a life.

  • How to do the work you want and still prioritize your wellbeing.

  • How not to have to choose between success and sanity.

  • How to live, work, and lead on your terms.

Not productivity tips. Not hustle hacks with a wellness coating. Not “10 morning routines of highly successful people.”

Letters about what it means to be human in the age of machines. About ambition that doesn’t cost you your health, your relationships, or your sense of self. About finding your Desire Path — the one that was always there, underneath the one you’ve been running.

Letters written from one human to another.

Urban planners call desire paths the worn trails that appear across parks where enough people decide the official route isn’t taking them where they want to go.

Unhustle is not anti-ambition. It’s anti-self-abandonment.

If you want to understand what this is all about, these three pieces are the best entry points:

Why We Resist Rest: The Psychology Behind Our Hustle Addiction — why rest feels like a luxury when it’s actually a birthright, and what the science says about reclaiming it.

The Machine You’re Running On — the question underneath all the AI anxiety that nobody’s asking out loud.

The Jevons Paradox in the Age of AI — the faster AI makes you, the more work finds you. Here’s why — and what to do instead. Something I’m pondering for my book.

I’m Milena Miteva-Regos — former CMO, founder of the Unhustle movement, and author of Unhustle: Finding Your Desire Path in a Default World, coming Fall 2026 with a foreword by Chip Conley.

I spent 23 years helping build hustle culture from the inside. Then one night at 30,000 feet, I wrote five words on a cocktail napkin that changed everything.

That story — and where it led — is what this whole letter is built on.

A decade of research, experiments, failures, and what I found along the way.
