Dowels are a fantastic way to speed up your chairmaking. Using dowels is one of the best ways to get started as a newbie, or to speed up the laborious process of shaping sticks.
You eliminate the need for power cutters and other specialty tools. Plus, dowels are usually straight (but this is something to double-check at your store).
Dowels are great but they usually come at a price.
In California, a single hardwood dowel can cost over 10$. And it might not even be straight.
There is a company in Germany I want to recommend that sells high quality dowels for extremely good prices.
