“For however many are the promises of God, in him is the ‘Yes.’ Therefore also through him is the ‘Amen,’ to the glory of God through us.” — 2 Corinthians 1:20
God has filled His Word with promises, but 2 Corinthians 1:20 reminds us that those promises ultimately find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. Paul points believers away from uncertainty and toward the unwavering faithfulness of God revealed in His Son.
“In him is the ‘Yes.’” Jesus is the confirmation that God keeps His Word. From the promise of salvation to the hope of eternal life, Christ demonstrates that God is faithful to accomplish everything He has determined. The cross and resurrection are the greatest evidence that His promises can be trusted.
This does not mean every personal desire will be fulfilled exactly as we hope. God’s promises are not blank checks for whatever we want. They are assurances rooted in His character and revealed in His Word. Our confidence rests not in our preferred outcome but in the God who cannot lie.
Paul also says that through Christ we respond with “Amen.” Amen means, in essence, “Let it be so” or “truly.” When we say amen to God’s promises, we are expressing faith in His faithfulness.
Perhaps you are waiting today—for an answer, direction, provision, or strength. Instead of allowing uncertainty to dominate your heart, remember what God has already demonstrated in Christ. The Savior who fulfilled God’s greatest promise is trustworthy with every part of your life.
God’s promises are certain because God Himself is faithful.
Choose one biblical promise that speaks to your present situation. Write it down, pray over it, and intentionally place your confidence in God’s faithfulness rather than your circumstances.
Lord, help me trust every promise You have spoken.
Keep my confidence centered on Jesus Christ.
May my life respond with “Amen” to Your faithful Word.
