When I first published TBATE on Royal Road in 2015, I thought the magic in this world had to be special—I thought it had to be different. Ki and aether were planned from the very beginning. The joyride was figuring out how to get there—and what they would be called. I was a reader of the classics and several progression fantasies myself, so I was worried I’d fall into the trap of creating a magic system that was too familiar. However, I also knew I needed a way to introduce readers to ki and aether, so it didn’t become an overwhelming system to understand. Thus, I decided to walk myself right into that trap and relied on said familiar systems as a gateway.
Limited Exclusive Edition
TurtleMe will be making his San Diego Comic-Con debut! To celebrate the print launch of the novel, Rocketship has published a limited number of The Beginning After the End Volume 1 SDCC Exclusive “Grey for King Grey” Editions that will be available at the con and through Rocketship’s Comic Con @ Home sale for fans unable to attend (limited to 300 copies).
Signings
TurtleMe will be signing free prints from the deluxe illustrated edition of the novel at the Rocketship booth on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with a different print available each day.
