Hey, it’s Troy Jackson with big news.
My 2016 Dodge Caravan just rolled past 500,000 miles.
To living rooms and diners and union halls and driveways, because that’s where this campaign gets won, not at some fancy big-donor event, but wherever people are willing to talk to me.
She just kicked off her own tour of Maine in a bus wrapped in her name and big enough to hold a mobile office inside it. When you’ve got 100 billionaires backing you, I guess you can really deck out your ride.
I looked into what renting something like that for a week costs, and it’s not far off from what my 2026 Dodge Caravan is worth. That’s not a knock on her bus. That’s just the difference between a campaign backed by billionaires and one backed by people like you.
I’ve got a van with more miles on it than most cars will ever see, a cooler in the back, and usually a slice of pizza I grabbed between stops. That’s how this campaign runs. No sleek black sedans or fundraising dinners with the ultra-wealthy — just me, the road, and whoever’s willing to say hello.
We are not going to outspend Susan Collins and her billionaire backers. We both know that. What we can do is stay loud and visible enough that Mainers hear from us just as much as they hear from her on the airwaves, in their mailbox, at their door.
That takes gas money. And it’ll take a lot of ad money. I’ll need a whole lot of people to show up for this campaign the same way I’m showing up in all 16 counties.
