What has changed? The paradigm shift has happened, and we hardly noticed it.
Particle physicists now are saying there are no particles. Hmmm. What does this mean for us human beings? Do we just get on with life still, as we did before? Or does something subtle shift with the paradigm of science? Does the education system respond, for example, or stay stuck in the old materialist ways of the last 300 years? Does society have to value only a work ethic to organise matter and energy like slaves?
Perhaps we are allowed to become more integrated as human beings once again? Perhaps because particles no longer exist, are we no longer the separate bodies and observing, minds rationalising the incomprehensible that we had been taught to believe we are? If there are no particles, then atoms are swirling fields of colourful movement; and molecules more so, but aggregating into meaningful formations that relate to each other with a transformative resonant consistency that grows as we play and work together. Are we now fields of change? Perhaps we truly do relate heart to heart, not just as fields of change, rather as glorious fields of resonant light and tonal notes of harmonies relating heart to heart? Can we see beauty lurking deeper than the educated sadness in each other’s eyes?
Yesterday I was a lump of matter crashing into other meaningless lumps. Money, money, money moves matter… Today, something is different. Yesterday somebody needed to apply external rules and laws to regulate my innately meaningless material body. I was just an observer, I was told, of this deterministic folly, cheating if I intervened with my myth of free will. Today, however, I am instead a perceiver.
I am no longer just a receiver, or even a lump of clay. Today I am told that I, me, this intangible truth, participate in a bigger wholeness and influence its dynamics. Today I am told that I am innately involved in all I see and do as a resonant influence delving among and penetrating through its wholeness of formations to the greater wholeness of all; the unknown. Or perhaps I hold back, for any of many obscure reasons of potential for loss, and instead I am a dissonance, clashing with the fields of play and work and change all around me to generate sparks in the boundary zones, by my own inner choices and priorities… of wanting to dominate or resist.
Are we now, today, allowed to become living souls without embarrassment? Who is brave enough to say it? Our soul’s resonate beyond this framing shape of our bodies… clothed in earth and cloth, subtly communicating through DNA and all the RNAs that shape other molecules into this living body transforming with love in both joy and grief into patterns of movement communicating relationally across space and time, noticed by others, and reshaping the responsive substance of society. Matter is meaningfully connecting our souls. Matter is the unknowable God’s condensed love adding consistency to life. There is a Big Soul we belong in and explore in our silent conversations. No longer do we have to seem stoically tough just because we had been told imagination is ‘mere fantasy’. There is meaning beyond matter. Souls convey patterns of movement to each other informationally, creatures too, and nature also holds its balances and constraints on imagination beyond the time sequences that science has limited itself to. Souls move in story time, changing people’s hearts and minds, the only way that true relationships can be seen to move and transform.
The reality is no longer dispassionately material and power, power, power. Let us today celebrate the return of humanity into science. And may this re-entry of moral choice in science affect the way we see each other, and all creatures, and nature and cosmos in the sky at night on a clear night.
Seeing each other…
In science lessons, whether in local school or by nonlocal YouTube for adult education, science is presented as dispassionately observed, and measured, fact, wrapped up in clean mathematics, not the messy earth of our living embodiment. Our living bodies, however, which include brains and eyes and ears and noses – and even skin and muscles moving bony joints that bristle with sensitive sensory nerve endings to inform the intangible me where I am in this cosmos – our living bodies are basically the earth of the fields around our cities reshaped. We are mud on the move. The miracle is that we towers of mud can communicate meaningfully, and know when we misunderstand each other, and inquire to get to know each other better, if we choose to with our free will and inner preferences.
We each are mini-ecologies without knowing it, creating an environment for each other… and leaving nature out of it if that serves our purposes for now – the eternal now of our experience of passing through this locality. Biology has overemphasised the role of DNA in genetic shaping. Only recently has the epigenetics of contextual influence been equally valued for the reshaping of our embodied souls and spiritual relatedness in the Big Soul.
And here is the rub, as Shakespeare’s Hamlet said when contemplating suicide. We perceive truth with imagination. Choosing to measure, however, turns our hearts away from our participatory resonances shared in the utter wholeness of life, to become a dispassionately observing frame of mind from where we act on truth, and compare one bit with another. When, however, we measure someone else’s character, as another example of comparison, before deciding if we agree or disagree, we tend to take a mental step back from living with them in wholeness. We may imagine we create a secure mental space for a hidden purpose. Or… perhaps another way to understand that dynamic is to see it as a qualitative pause in a continuing participatory process for thoughtful reflection… creating a gap in time in which to experience more clearly the resonance or dissonance of soul patterning in the agile boundary state of shared soul movement subtly ongoing between us? We each can allow ourselves a reflective story time to sense without damaging the agile betweenness of relatedness qualities.
This shared boundary state is perceiving.
Perceiving… apprehending with subtle senses as we pass through that which is the agile betweenness of our dynamic boundary states of soul with others and the whole.
Our mental space for reflection is our story time home, a lounge for heart-based feedback. Here we relax to understand by making sense of our dynamic boundaries as souls. This story time home for my soul is secure in the Big Soul of the unknowable whole. It is where and how our imaginations flare like flames of informational inquiry, connected through our dynamic boundary states with the whole, not separated like a bubble. Our home is in an unscalable wholeness of movement and growth.
If anyone doubts this reality of boundary state reflections, it is worth pausing to reflect now on the fact that the nervous system in you as an adult has differentiated from the outer layer of the embryo you once were that developed into this unique ‘me’. That outer layer of ‘the tube’, the early embryo’s ectoderm, differentiated also into your skin and your immune systems. All three, nervous system, immune system, and skin, are pattern recognising organs. They each apprehend different features of our dynamic boundary states. Together they enable us to perceive our place in the moving whole. The skin senses changes in our immediate locality. The immune system senses or detects remote molecular features that are potentially invasive of our entire embodiment, and activates mechanisms to remove them. The nervous system develops remote sensors for thermodynamics, sound waves, gravitational pull, and electromagnetic waves in our visible light range, so that we can orient our responses to changes, and seek out nurturing environments.
As you imagine this early stage of your development in the womb, you are not dispassionately observing it. Or if you believe you are, then you have been addled by an old style education system into a dualistic split that needs healing. Observational science is evolving rapidly in this paradigm shift into boundary science, where we all are participators in the wholeness of truth.
