Book excerpt in Slate

I’m very excited to say that — with one week to go until publication — Slate has published an excerpt from the book.

The piece describes how transplant medicine medicine learned to share its life and death decisions with the rest of us. That’s a tradition that’s still happening in today’s software, but it began in the early 1960s, with the decisions of a pioneering doctor who everybody called Scrib.
