In 2020, when longtime Scientology critic Mark Bunker won a seat on Clearwater, Florida’s city council — where Scientology’s “spiritual mecca” the Flag Land Base is located — he did so with a plurality, but not a majority, of votes in his district.

We’re fortunate to have former Sea Org official Chris Shelton to help us explore Scientology’s past.

Last Thursday, the Times of London published the results of an undercover investigation by one of its reporters, Tom Ball, who had spent enough time at the Church of Scientology’s Edinburgh “org” to confirm that it was, indeed, recruiting children from 13 to 16 to work as staff members, some of whom were away from their parents in East Grinstead, England and other distant locations.
