Daniel, Celia, and were in Florida this past week. More often than not, when we come to Florida it’s sort of a jam packed trip seeing family. We started the trip in Orlando and did Animal Kingdom with one of my brothers and my moms, then ventured a couple hours down to stay with my moms, and then traveled again to stay with my other brother. My vision of the trip was leiiiissssureeeee. I kept saying “I don’t care what we do I just want to be on the beach with a sandwich.” But traveling in the heat with a teething toddler while in my second trimester turned out to be a little harder than I expected. Shocker. If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw that I had a little chronic illness crash the day after animal kingdom which in a way derailed the trip a bit. I think the crash was inevitable, but it’s always unfortunate timing to travel only to be able to lay in bed. Though we have really made the most of the trip even with me not feeling tip top.
During our stay we did Animal Kingdom which really was an enjoyable time with the family, ate out a ton, walked through the Palm Beach rare plant sale, a bonsai sanctuary, spent time at the beach, in the pool, and yes… resting. It probably doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but when we travel I try to hit up my favorite and new places to eat and this trip did not disappoint.
We flew back home Thursday/Friday and got in at like 12:40am, but we’re both so excited get to work constructing the gardens, getting ready for baby chicks and building a coop, working on our garage turned workout space, etc etc. Not to mention I just haven’t been up to filming my “regularly scheduled content” like food prep days, recipes, and wellness tips so I’m really eager to get back into the swing of things.
Since writing this (I’m proofreading right before publishing) we just got baby chicks!!! You can see them over on my Instagram - so so so excited to build their coop and be a chicken lady.
📚 WHAT TO READ: I’m on a big Abby Jimenez kick and finished Just for The Summer only to immediately pick up Part of Your World. It’s technically the first in the series of books that connect, but I don’t think it really matters which you read first. I will say, I do wish I read Part of Your World beforeeeeee Just for The Summer, but it’s ok. It’s just your run of the mill romantic fiction, but I truly look forward to the free moments during my day where I can sit/lay down and read.
📺 WHAT TO WATCH: My Non-Toxic Bedroom Tour in 2026 (Fall Asleep Instantly): Paul Saladino posted a video showing his bedroom so I obviously watched it. I’m all about consuming content that encourages me to either stick to my good habits, rethink something I’m doing, or motivate me to make an even better change. My personal takeaways from the video:
I should be even better about doing feet up the wall before bed.
Where the heck is my LumeBox? I still haven’t found them after moving but that’s a me problem.
*lumebox is doing a 50% off sale right now for only $315 which is awesome.I want a wifi timer switch so I can turn off our wifi at night. I honestly didn’t see a super duper point in doing this when we lived in a neighborhood and we were in range of like 100 different wifi signals, but now that we’re in the sticks it actually feels worth it.
LOL at Paul taking naps during the day. Daniel goes “yeah, you can tell he doesn’t have kids.”
🎧 WHAT TO LISTEN TO: Guys I have been on a podcast kickkkk! I’ve been listening to them while I cook, drive, and yes, even while working out. Spoiler, it’s all Culture Apothecary. Anyways here are some of my favorites as of late:
The Biohacker’s Guide to Sleep, Nicotine, & Weight Loss | Dave Asprey: Dave Asprey was honestly the first biohacker podcaster I ever listened to back in probably like 2018/2019. He’s suuuuper intense which at one point sorta put me off to his own podcast, but I absolutely loved this sit down with Alex Clark.
Dressed to Kill: American Clothing is Big Chem’s Favorite Playground | Hannah Dunning: I thought I was educated on non-toxic clothing and natural fibers, but wow did this episode open my eyes. It made me want to come home and do another big clean out of my wardrobe. It also really inspired me to get even cleaner with Celia and new Baby’s clothing and only do organic cotton, wool, or linen.
Best Anti-Aging Workouts, Seed Oils, Methylene Blue & Mitochondria | Dr. Chris Masterjohn, Phd: This was a jam packed episode and I felt like there were a lot of really fantastic nuggets of wisdom in it. It’s been a little while since I listened to it, but I feel like the moral of the story is you gotta figure out what works for you!
The Plastic Detox & Behind The Scenes of Big Food | Jason Karp: creator of Hu Chocolate, Jason Karp has a wealth of knowledge in big food and the natural food movement. I love episodes like this that get me jazzed up about our food system.
I mentioned it above, but this week I’m implementing a wifi off switch. I’m not linking anything because I haven’t researched enough and found the one I’m going with (let me be honest here, Daniel hasn’t researched enough LOL). But even though I was a stick in the mud while living in the burbs, I think no matter where you live or how many wifi’s pop up, shutting off the most intense exposure from inside your home would still make a difference. EMF could damage DNA and cells, lead to cancer, sleep issues, memory loss, headaches, anxiety, and even harm growing babies. It’s still new and fringe, but honestly why do I even need wifi blasting all night anyways?
sub note here: I noticed some other items in my house emitting wifi so idk what to do about that… but it’s all about progress not perfection right?
