The Soundgeist · The Soundgeist

This feels like one of the first weekends this summer where we’ve actually been able to catch our breath. Between the Knicks, the World Cup, and a general good-time-seeking attitude that would make unemployed loiterers/creative directors look industrious, you could argue Summer 2026 rivals Summer 2016.

So it was the perfect occasion for our own odyssey out west to Long Beach for the Vans Warped Tour. At least for me, I’ve never really had a music “phase” — the kind where you’re into something for a bit and then quietly disown it later. Whatever I get into just stays lodged in there permanently. No better proof of that than the Warped Tour lineup, a festival that basically is a genre at this point.

I love Third Eye Blind and this is my favorite song by them. Nothing more.

If this is a safe space to admit, I was very excited for the new The Stokes album. It’s hard to do such a great comeback like The New Abnormal but I’ll definitely be playing this album a few times. This reminds me of the most classic-y strokes song when I first heard it.

Most fun song and single from the new Charli album. Still enjoyed the album overall.

I predict we might see Reel Big Fish get a resurgence in popualrity and favorability similar to Creed. Great song to listen to in college, especially in the context of beer.

Sorry to the midwest emo community, but I’d rather be sad in California than sad (or happy) in Illinois.

The Creme de la meme

Jimothy has hit critical mass.

The phase lives on.

This is going to make a lot of you feel seen and upset.
