The Ransom Note · The Ransom Note’s Substack

For those of you in the loop you’ve probably seen a recent article doing the rounds on social media about the proliferation of capitalism and commercialism in electronic music.

The article itself was well written and informative, making reference to a number of key topics and moments which demonstrate the beast of the issue in all its might.

It was well balanced and arguably fair despite having been considered potentially ‘risky’ given the nature of the publication and its relationship to the ‘said commercialisation’ of the culture in and of itself.

However, my question is, why now?

In the midst of ADE why did a major publication decide to take aim at an ‘industry’ it has helped power and ‘uplift’.

What’s going on?

Something seems off.

Anyway, back to the real world.

This week saw everyone’s favourite prince stripped of his titles. It was long overdue and it’s a start if you ask us…. However, I don’t expect to see him sweating all over my sloppy giueseppe in a pizza express uniform anytime soon. Somehow I imagine he is still on a very handsome salary for sweet nothing, just as long as he stays away from any islands for the time being. And teenagers…

In better news, London was taken over by sumo wrestlers last week and it’s awfully funny that the far right mob had nothing to say about it. Perhaps it’s a more intimidating concept to threaten an Asian man from overseas when they’re triple your size or have the potential to squash you to death.

Apparently sumo wrestlers eat 10,000 calories a day which is quite the statistic. It puts some of my 500g one bag of pasta meals to shame.

However, perhaps the biggest winners from their visit were Lime, christ those bike seats must be made of strong stuff.

I hope they come back soon, those guys cheered me right up.
