Patients Are The Point, Not Polish

Lately, I’ve noticed a thing.

Someone will send me, or post online, a slick little infographic, summary, carousel, or “helpful visual” that clearly had AI fingerprints on it. And I’ll think: huh, that looks familiar.

Sometimes it is based on something I wrote. Sometimes they credit me. Sometimes they mention me in passing, which is not quite the same thing. Sometimes they don’t. Either way, if I’m being honest, it rubs me the wrong way.

I don’t think most people are trying to be shady. I think they’re experimenting with the tools, trying to be helpful, trying to make complicated ideas easier to share.

But it still feels weird to see your own thinking come back to you as someone else’s “quick visual” or “helpful summary,” especially when the source gets fuzzy.

And I’ll be honest: having it happen several times in a short stretch has made me a little more timid about posting anything substantive about Patient Support.

Which is an uncomfortable thing to admit, because I understand the bargain.…
