After work, I met my friends at the new Los Angeles Apparel store in Soho. There were three American Apparels in Seattle before they shuttered their doors one after the other. One downtown, one in Capitol Hill which sat vacant before fittingly becoming Seattle’s first Glossier pop-up and one in the University District on 45th. I went all the time and bought nothing. I tried to take photos like Joanna Kutcha in the dressing room but instead learned the art of self comparison. The denim circle skirts and sunflower print shorts are gone but it is almost exactly as I remember.
