Nav 𓅯 · A Perfectly Cromulent Software Engineer

I met Lauren Peate at a coding bootcamp. I wasn’t in the bootcamp, I was sharing the office space. It was a bit of a weird time where I was unemployed and trying to figure out what was next. I had previously quit software engineering, moving into marketing and then realizing I wanted to be an engineer again. During that period of time I was running two meetups. One focused on frontend development called Auckland CSS and another focused on Mental Health in Tech (Literally the name of the meetup).

Lauren might have been my second guest on that Mental Health meetup and that’s for a reason. She was (is) strong in ethics and empathy. Two things I was trying to understand better at the time.

In this episode Lauren talks about receiving a gift from an audience member after one of her talks, and the joy in sharing it with her son.

Imagine dragons

I talk about receiving a gift from a friend all the way in Montana and the fuzzy feelings that shipped with it (Thank you Alexis).

Luckily bugs don’t come in this size

I apologize for bringing up something that really needs visuals in an audio-only episode. Still learning.

If you like my writing and want to say thanks with a few dollars, please consider doing so via my ko-fi and not Substack
