Jason Cormier is currently a Head of Ecosystem. If you don’t know what that means I can’t help you. Just think of something to do with company partnerships and imagine what being the Head of that is. I didn’t chat with Jason because of his resume. We worked together for a while and I genuinely enjoyed chatting with him. I enjoyed it so much I asked if he’d be willing to continue chatting but also be recorded.
In this episode we talk about being a parent (he is and I’m not), seeing your children help each other and why children bring out the best in us. I keep that theme going as I relate the immediate mood lift I feel when around these odd little creatures.
There’s a quote from Jason that I feel sums up a lot of what I’ve been thinking:
We’re broken. We see the writing on the wall. And so it overwhelms us. And we lose the enthusiasm and the energy and the optimism to think that we can fix it. But children don’t see that. And so we need that energy in the world. We need kids putting that out there to remind us what we’re trying to solve these problems for.
In lieu of having my own children, I think I’ll try to work towards a world where adults feel less broken. Anything to ensure that cynicism isn’t the default.
