Veterans support charity Who Dares Cares makes the final preparations for this week’s Peebles to Berwick canoe trip. The group depart from Kelso this morning.

Welcome to this week’s Peeblean.

This issue is an Innerleithen-special, not deliberately but just in terms of where the updates came from this week. It’s a good reminder that despite our name we are keen to cover updates for communities around Peebles as well. Please send in forthcoming events via our Get in Touch form on our home page (thepeeblean.com).

TOWN CHAT

💵 The first microgrants from the RWE Bowbeat Wind Farm (Innerleithen) Community Fund have been paid out. The beneficiaries are Innerleithen Open Studios (for website development) and Hub CIC (for bollard signs to discourage cycling on pavements). Round 2 is currently open for applications (deadline 21 September).

  • A separate RWE Bowbeat fund covers Peebles and Eddleston. Round 2 of funding is currently open for applications (deadline 28 September).
