A stream of consciousness is a writing exercise/style where you dump out all the thoughts in your brain, without editing or trying to create structure, just letting it all flow. (I do edit a bit for clarity though, and may use line breaks to form some sense of structure.)

without thinking, can you get yourself to a place, a new place where the sun can warm you up enough for your skin to expand and your mind to unravel

quick, do something to center yourself, roll your head, do a deep plié, take a long breath as you steady your feet on solid ground

without hesitation can you sing that song that moves you up cloud by cloud, gets you lost in the sense of proprioception, your body the only thing in the universe

quick, do something that tethers you to reality

quick, do something to fill your belly

quick, do something that exemplifies who you are and what you want and what you can share and what you’ve learned

quick, make some sense out of the nonsensical neurons knitting their navigation throughout your mind

with confidence, can you slash through the day, through the thickness in the air, or can you mold it, shape it, spin it into a ceramic bowl

with clarity, can you see the end, can you see the beginning, can you map out your path from sunspot to sunspot

without lying, can you call this what it is

quick, speak your mind

quick, charge your batteries

quick, look in a mirror and tell yourself you love you

Coming up:

  • I’m going to start a weekly recap newsletter. I’ll send it out on Fridays and it’s going to be a reflection back on the week and what I did. I was doing daily updates on Instagram for a while, but I want to give long form written updates a try.

  • These Sunday newsletters are going to stay stream of consciousness because it just feels good.
