Good morning! Happy Monday!

This weekend, I was thinking a lot about time.

How something can feel impossibly long and unbelievably short all at once.

If you had asked me a year and a half ago what I thought my life would look like today, I would’ve been wrong. Not because I lacked vision, but because when you’re standing in the middle of something hard, it’s almost impossible to imagine what’s waiting on the other side. We tend to project how we feel today onto tomorrow, next month, next year…

I’ve surrendered to the fact that life doesn’t really work like that.

The biggest changes in my life haven’t happened because I sat down and decided where I’d be a year from now. They happened because of hundreds of tiny decisions that didn’t seem important at the time. Going for the run when I wanted to stay home. Saying yes to dinner with friends. Booking the trip. Crying when I needed to cry. Resting when I needed to rest. Starting over, again and again, without really knowing where I was headed.

Some days, moving forward looked like simply getting out of bed. Other days, it looked like laughing so hard I forgot, for a moment, that I’d been carrying something heavy!

To me, both counted.

I also don’t think life is about pretending you’re okay all the time. I think it’s about making space for whatever shows up, without unpacking and deciding to live there forever. Feel the sadness. Feel the anger. Feel the joy when it comes in.

Over the last little while, I’ve realized that rebuilding a life doesn’t happen in giant leaps. It happens in tiny moments where you gently steer yourself toward the person you want to become. Sometimes you don’t even notice it’s happening until you look back!

I know… it’s easier written than lived. Some days still feel impossibly yucky. Some days I wish I could see farther down the road than I can.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: don’t put too much pressure on yourself to figure out how you’re going to feel six months from now, or where you’ll be a year from now! You don’t have to solve your future today.

You just have to choose one thing that moves you toward the life you want.

Maybe that’s texting a friend. Going for a walk. Signing up for the thing that scares you. Making yourself a really good coffee. Coming to run club (hehe). Taking the day off. Whatever it is, let it be enough.

Then tomorrow, do it again.

What’s one small thing you can do today that your future self will thank you for?

Five pace groups. A beautiful summer evening. The best people. Whether it’s your first run or your hundredth, we’d love to have you. See you tonight!

We’re back! Join us for a 5K run with two pace groups, followed by a 90-minute chill session. These nights have quickly become one of our favourite additions to the week, and I can’t wait to be back running with the spicy group!

Our favourite way to kick off the weekend. We’ll head out for a relaxed 5–6K run along the water before coming back for coffee, smoothies, breakfast, and a little extra time to hang out.

🏁 Good luck to everyone racing the SeaWheeze Half Marathon on Saturday! If you’re looking for a shakeout, Friday morning at TurF is the perfect way to get the legs moving before race day.

🌲 Trail Mix Update: We’ll be taking another short pause this Saturday while a few of our leaders are away enjoying summer adventures. We’ll be back on the trails together soon—I promise!

First of all, thank you so much for all of the thoughtful messages, comments, and conversations after last week’s essay, Mondays Run Club: Before the Elevator Pitch. I honestly wasn’t sure how it would land, and hearing how many of you connected with it meant more than you know.

If you missed it, you can read it here.

I’ll be sharing Part Two later this week, and I’m really looking forward to continuing the conversation. It seems this story has resonated with so many of you, and I’m excited to dive a little deeper.

As always, The Mondays Effect Monday newsletter will remain free. But if you’ve been enjoying these deeper essays and feel called to support The Inner Circle, you can upgrade your subscription below!
