Hey team,
Over the weekend I headed into the alpine for a 30K trail run, and my DMs were full of one question:
So I thought I’d put everything in one place!
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that finding running gear you love is mostly trial and error. Everyone is built differently, everyone likes different things, and what works for me might not work for you, but I’ve spent a lot of time (and, let’s be honest, a lot of money) figuring out what I personally love.
So, if you’ve ever been curious about my setup, or where to start, here it is!
As always, if you have any questions about any of this, come find me on Instagram. I’m always happy to chat running gear.
I don’t always wear a hat, but when I do it’s usually one from Alex Zono.
Alex is a designer from South Africa who makes some of the coolest running hats I’ve seen. The fit is great, the designs are even better, and I just love supporting independent creators doing something different.
If you’re looking for something a little lighter that packs down really small, I also love the
In the summer, I almost never run in a T-shirt. I usually just wear my lululemon Free to Be Sports Bra because I honestly hate feeling extra fabric while I’m running.
If you do prefer a lightweight shirt, adidas Terrex makes some really great trail tops.
This weekend I wore my 6” lululemon Align Bike Shorts.
They’re basically the only shorts I’ve found that don’t ride up on me, and they stay exactly where they’re supposed to.
You’ll probably notice a theme throughout this newsletter... I really don’t like things bouncing around, shifting, rubbing, or distracting me while I run. LOL When I’m not in those, I’m in my adidas Terrex XPERIOR CLIMA365 SHORTS which I LOVE — and they’re on sale rn.
If I could recommend one thing from this entire list, it’s this.
Erich and James from Mondays Run Club kept telling me to try it.
I’ll admit—I was skeptical. Every waist belt I’d ever worn bounced around, twisted, rode up, or just annoyed me enough that I’d end up taking it off.
This one isn’t cheap, so I hesitated for a while. Eventually I bought one with my own money.
Now I honestly don’t think I’ll ever go back.
On this 30K run I carried:
over 650ML of water in my back
12 gels
2 waffles
Sunni Energy Gum
bug spray
Band-Aids
my phone
and a few other odds and ends
Everything fit. Nothing bounced. Nothing rubbed. Nothing moved.
It completely changed how I feel on long runs.
Raide also makes running vests, and based on how good this belt is, I can only imagine they’re incredible too, but I have not tried.
I’ve been rotating through a few pairs lately!
These are my race shoes for shorter races!
I absolutely love them. They’re fast, responsive, and I feel like I can really push the pace in them.
These are what I wore through the entire In Her Tracks series!
If you’re new to trail running, I honestly think these are one of the best places to start. They’re kind of a crossover between a road shoe and a trail shoe, which makes them feel really approachable.
I’ve also been really enjoying these lately. Super comfortable and another great option if you’re spending lots of time on the trails.
The adidas Terrex 50L Duffel goes everywhere with me — also on sale right now!
It converts into a backpack, fits everything I need for race weekends, and has a separate little organizer bag inside where I throw all my fuel, bottles, gels, and random gear so it isn’t rolling around the bottom.
I can comfortably fit:
two pairs of shoes
running clothes
jacket
recovery shoes
fuel
hydration
and a full change of clothes afterwards.
It’s become one of those bags I reach for every single weekend.
These never leave my car lol
I’ve worn these for years. With socks. Without socks. In rivers. At campsites. After races.
They’re still my favourite recovery shoe.
I’ve also been loving these lately.
Super comfortable, great in the water, and I honestly think they look really good too.
Lately my nutrition has looked pretty simple.
I’ve been alternating between the caffeinated and non-caffeinated versions throughout longer runs.
This goes into my bottles for longer efforts.
Always in my pocket.
I’ve been using No Days Wasted electrolytes recently and really enjoying them.
You can grab them through the link, and you’ll get 15% off your order!
If you enjoyed this kind of gear roundup, let me know.
I’m happy to keep doing these and share the products I genuinely use, along with any discount codes I have whenever they’re available.
The absolute best part about getting home after a long day in the mountains?
Seeing a Fresh Prep delivery waiting at my door!
After a big run, the last thing I want to do is think about groceries, cooking, or cleaning the kitchen.
Fresh Prep makes that part ridiculously easy.
If you’ve been thinking about trying it, I have a discount code for your first order.
TRY IT HERE and use code BRSKYE50 for 50% off your first order!

Tonight we’re switching things up and meeting at Superflux.
We’ll meet at 5:30 PM and head out for our run at 5:45 PM to give everyone a little extra time to make the trip over to East Van!
Bag drop is available, there’s bike parking, and plenty of street parking nearby.
Tonight’s pace groups:
Ocho
Spicy Six
Chill Six
V-Chill
Walking Group
The best part? We’ll have the patio afterwards, plus both of our collaboration beers:
🍺 Trail Mix IPA
🍺 Chill Six Electrolyte Pale Ale
Trust me—it’s worth the trip! We’d love to see you.
Wednesday | 5:30 PM | Tality Mount Pleasant
5KM run, two pace groups, Spicy and Icy.
Followed by a private 90-minute Tality recovery session.
This one sells out every week, so don’t wait too long!
Friday | 7:30 AM | TurF Kits
One of my favourite runs of the week!! 5-6KM run along the ocean, hang for coffee, smoothies or breakfast after! Runners receive 20% off
I’m already sad thinking about these ending for winter, so let’s enjoy every single one while we still can!!!
Friendly reminder that there will be no Trail Mix this weekend because of the Squamish 50.
Good luck to everyone racing! I’ll be up there cheering on a few of our runners with Rosa, and I’d absolutely love to cheer for you too.
If you’re racing, send me your bib number once you have it. Watching our community accomplish huge goals is genuinely one of my favourite parts of trail season.
As always, if you ever need anything, have a gear question or just wanna chat, my DMs are always open.
See you tonight!
XO Veronica
