☀️ Good Morning:
The offense was long overdue for a stinker, and they gave us one on Tuesday.
A reminder of how this lineup has looked for much of the past 14 months.
Despite a strong outing from Nolan McLean, the Mets couldn’t overcome a silent night from the bats. They managed only four hits against Martín Pérez and Atlanta’s bullpen, while New York’s new-age relief corp couldn’t get the job done.
That’s the positive in the losses that will eventually add up to whatever ugly number it will be that represents the 2026 Mets.
McLean has hit some bumps in his first full season in the rotation, but continues to prove why he is a stud. After six innings of one-run ball, he lowered his ERA to 3.07 over his first 32 career starts. As SNY highlights, Doc Gooden had a 2.60 ERA during his sensational rookie season in 1984.
McLean might not be peak Doc, but he’s pretty damn good.

🗓️ UP NEXT: The rubber game with Zac Thornton (3–2, 2.52) on the hill against right-hander Tyler Mahle (3–9, 4.83). Mahle has had two impressive outings recently in which he held the Brewers and Yankees scoreless, each over six innings, while throwing a clunker against the Padres in-between.

Jared Young is 31 years old. He name as ordinary as his background. A 15th round selection whose career took him to Korea before finding himself back under the bright lights.
The fact he has become a positive note in an otherwise offbeat season for the Mets perhaps most telling about the players who haven’t been able to beat him for at-bats.
But is there something there, there?
