US Democracy on the Brink

Today, October 18th, 2025 multiple millions of patriotic (and pissed off) Americans of all political stripes are peacefully protesting in over 2500 events in all 50 US states… along with supporting protests in countries around the world.

What are they protesting?

The would-be tyrant Donald John Trump and his project 2025 minions.

Trump…a convicted criminal and sexual predator with progressing dementia… is in his 10th month of his second term as president. The guardrails that kept him from pursuing his most egregious ideas are long gone. He’s surrounded himself with

• like-minded sycophants willing to do his bidding

• a completely spineless Republican Majority Congress that is either fully onboard or scared shitless to oppose him

• a cowed media that rarely pushes back on his fantastical lies

• foreign influencers trying to create all manner of chaos in America

The October ‘No Kings’ protest is expected to be the largest protest in US history…2nd only to the first one on June 14th which drew an estimated 5 million participants to 1500 locations across the country.

Things have gotten so much worse since then…

Health Secretary RFK Jr’s war on science is destined to kill Americans.

“Over the past few months, we have seen the Trump administration engage not only in medical misinformation, but in active censorship of scientific discourse.”

Since he took the helm at HHS, Kennedy’s unscientific views on vaccines and some other medical matters coupled with the agency’s widespread research and staff cuts, have prompted protests from scientists inside and outside HHS plus lawsuits.

Medical experts say Kennedy’s policies are helping “sow distrust in vaccines” as measles cases soar to a more than three decade high, hurt vital healthcare research with draconian cuts, and helped foment a Trump administration “war on science” mentality.

ICE…Trump’s masked deportation force is aggressively and indiscriminately detaining anyone who resists them.

A masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent grabbed Monica Moreta-Galarza’s hair as she clung to her husband, pleading with the agents who were detaining him. She was wrestled away from him as her crying children were held back by other agents.

Moreta-Galarza was taken to a nearby room for an unknown period before she was seen in videos captured by onlookers in the hallway of an immigration courthouse in Manhattan in late September, telling a different federal agent in Spanish: “You guys don’t care about anything!”

The agent, wearing a flannel shirt and baseball cap, replies, “Adios, adios,” as he grabs the mother and forces her several feet down the hallway, shoving her into the wall before pushing her to the ground.

Moreta-Galarza was rushed to the hospital for possible head trauma.

75% of Americans report soaring prices as Trump claims inflation ‘over’

Nine months after Donald Trump took office, promising to reduce prices on “day one”, a clear majority of Americans say their monthly costs have risen by between $100 and $749, according to an exclusive new poll conducted for the Guardian.

The president has continued to insist that there is “virtually no inflation”. “Prices are ‘WAY DOWN’ in the USA,” Trump wrote on social media in late August.

Yet according to a new Harris poll, Americans are still reporting soaring inflation and are increasingly pessimistic about the economy.

Add to these highlighted issues the fact that Trump continues to order lethal military strikes on suspected ‘narco terrorist’ boats off Venezuela killing over two dozen people with no legal authority or proof of who exactly they killed.

The Trump administration is blatantly corrupt and aren’t even trying to hide it…in fact they’re demonstrating their power to intimidate the American people and strike fear into those who dare resist.

Oh yeah…and the Epstein files coverup to protect Trump.

This is also day 18 of a US government shutdown…triggered by Democrats refusing to sign on to a bill to fund the government that would effectively condone Republican cuts to Health care making insurance unaffordable for millions of Americans.

Of course each side is publicly blaming the other for the shutdown which places thousands of government workers on furlough or forces them to work without getting a paid.

If you’re wondering whether it’s the Democrats or the Republicans at fault…Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski agrees the Democrats have a point…the lack of trust in the Trump administration to care about ordinary American families.

Today’s protests were planned long before the government shutdown started and the Republicans have bizarrely chosen to frame the No Kings protests as ‘hate America’ protests consisting of their favourite bogeymen…’antifa’ (anti-fascists), ‘Communists’, ‘Marxists’, ‘agitators’ and ‘terrorists’. All of course funded by their go-to billionaire villain…George Soros.

Of course this is already proving to be the 100% bullshit scare tactic to suppress participation everyone said it was. It’s had the exact opposite effect…causing event registrations to skyrocket over the past few days.

This is the Trump administration’s response to the American people he swore an oath to protect. Comforting huh?

‘We the People’ see and feel what’s happening to their country and they understand the assignment. Resist now or accept repression under one party rule.

As a Canadian I’m moved and encouraged by these pictures of huge crowds of Americans, young and old, wearing inflatable frogs suits, or wielding humorous homemade signs, mocking a tyrannical leader attempting to take away their freedoms and undermine the very democracy their ancestors fought for against a British King 250 years ago.
