Dear Soul Friends,
I’ve been quiet. For the past few weeks, Ireland was still longing for summer. Finally, the warmer days have arrived and I realise how the season constantly reminds me to be in this world with all my senses. When the weather is behaving like a moody teenager, I have the chance to practice to not let outward conditions affect my internal state. Instead of checking the weather app twice a day, watching how the announced “heatwave” from 20 degrees Celsius keeps slipping away like a squirmy fish, I had decided to focus on the present, taking the weather as it comes. However, I won’t lie, my body longs for warmth and thus I am truly happy that this week we finally hit the 20 degree mark.
Between beautiful moments in the sunshine, serving coffee at my day job and focusing a lot of energy into my mission, I found a spot of blank paper to let some words flow. The past weekend has been simply magical, writing poetry at the Yoga Picnic and at the fair in Bundoran was truly an honour and I welcome all my new subscribers into this space between the wor(l)ds.
After the busy weekend and travelling I took my time today to slow down and settle into my house again. I caught up on some sleep, stretched my aching body, meditated, pulled some oracle and tarot cards, made yummy bread rolls with improvised recipe, gave my cat lots of Love and the opportunity to venture into nature again after her accident, sipped some coffee, read a bit, watered the plants and watched the birds and the bees cheerfully greeting the sun. I love slow days, and yet, it feels awkward to rest on a Monday when everyone else is working. I can’t count the number of times I thought “You should do something, you should clean or write or produce something” as well as the number of times I picked up my phone only to force myself to put it down again to not mindlessly scroll. However, anytime I noticed the thoughts coming up, I remembered the poem I wrote a few days ago, when I consciously breathed into the void of words. Poetry has the magical ability to connect me to the present moment, and while writing all my thoughts subside.

Dry Spell
The summer sun
has hardened the ground
sizzling hot tarmac
can be found between
the sparkles of light
while the day stretches
and simultaneously
flies into the arms of night
you wonder
whether the well withered
the bitter taste
of hushed hues on coffee tongue
yearning for refreshing rain
Why do we resist
to fill our lives
with nourishing nature
Why do we insist
to drain
body, mind and soul
instead
Why do we try to run away
from our essence
and make a home
inside our head
when radiance presents herself
each day
on silver golden plate
Why do we recognise
sheer beauty
only when it is too late
And thus
I wander
and dare to feel
into my now
My heart softens
dew drops of fairy dust
delight my nose
washing away
you should
you must
and in epiphanic awe
I see in-sight:
my words have not been dwindled
nor have they been captured
inside the noise of day
No, they are very much alive
like wildflowers
guarding my way
You must know in summer
not all flowers grow
for this is their season
to flourish and thrive
Thus, with joyful smile
I let the wind unwind my gloom
and give my soul
some room to bloom
Sadhbh AdameaMy poetry is my biggest teacher. When I read these words after writing the poem, I softened. Maybe the rain made me forget that we are indeed in the season of summer, a season where plants and flowers are in full bloom, silently soaking up the specks of sun.
We can be so hard on ourselves. In a society that has trained us to always produce, consume or be occupied with something, we often forget to just bloom. Every flower has its season, not every flower blooms in spring, some flowers bloom longer, others shorter. We all have a role to play in this divine living painting of Mother Earth’s garden. Wherever we are in our cycle, we can pause for a moment and ask ourselves some questions:
Do I give my soul room to bloom or do I force myself to grow in a certain way and bloom on a certain timeline?
Is the environment I have planted my soul’s seed still nourishing or does it limit my ability to reach for the sky?
Can I enjoy my own colours or do I have a habit to look towards others for acknowledgement and appreciation?
Do I feel my connection to Mother Earth or do I feel uprooted?
I hope you enjoy the season you are in to the fullest, with all its magic and little wonders. There is no need to worry, you are always growing, but to smell the flowers we need to actually stop and drop into our bodies that we so easily disconnect from. Our sensitivity is sensational, and deserves to be used for the sheer enjoyment of life. Thank you so much for reading along and for still being here in the space between the wor(l)ds.
Have the best of weeks!
Lots of Love,
