A rather special guest is joining us in Devon

Hello you lovely lot—I’m going to kick things off today with a very exciting announcement: the glorious Jennie Godfrey, she of The List of Suspicious Things fame, globally adored writer, bestselling author and genuinely just an all-round SPLENDID human being, is going to be joining us for lunch, or supper—or indeed maybe both—at my festive reading retreat at Glebe House.

And now, look, I know I have probably given about as much airtime to Rosamunde Pilcher on this Substack as I have to my inclination for a glass of prosecco but—brace yourselves—because I’m about to give her even more column inches.

I’ve managed to get my grubby, greedy hands on an advance copy of The Mermaid Collection’s soon-to-be-released edition of A Long Way from Home. It’s a reissue (originally written under the penname of Jane Fraser for Mills and Boon—who knew?!), with a foreword by Claire Daverley, and my goodness have I fallen head over heels in love with it—as, let’s face it, I was always going to do.
