Somebody has to rule on whether a ceasefire held, and it is not Polymarket. Offshore, the job goes to nine anonymous wallets. Onshore, the house decides, and the decision cannot be appealed.

Polymarket is a website where people bet real money on whether something is going to happen, such as whether a ceasefire will hold, whether a shipping strait will reopen, or whether Israel will close its airspace. A bet costs somewhere between one cent and ninety-nine cents, and the price it settles…
