We Have A New Film!!!!

Our new film — The Work in Progress — comes out in four weeks and we want you to be the first to see it!

100 strangers, across generations and geographies, ask each other questions and engage in eloquent listening as they discuss where America is going and their place in it. Just the kind of dialogue that we need and are often avoiding. It begins when Prof. Reich asks, “What do we owe each other?” This film is a journey to find out. Will you be part of the conversation?

This film, directed by Ian Cheney, builds on the success (that you all fueled) of The Last Class. In that film, Prof. Reich reflects on his lifetime of teaching and civic engagement, imploring his students to really listen to one another. Democracy, he says, is not a spectator sport. It’s something we must actively nurture and protect — work which often begins with dialogue.

We’re calling this new film The Work in Progress, a (not too subtle) acknowledgement that our democracy is, and must continue to be, a work in progress, committed to our own healing and advancement. Inspired by questions posed by Prof. Reich, our team of filmmakers headed out to six different locations across the country — in Iowa, Arizona, Illinois, Maine, Alabama, and Hawaii — with a simple mission: to get Americans to talk to each other, and to really listen.
