Tomorrow the United States celebrates a 250-year birthday. That’s a big deal.

And that’s why Leslie, Marianne, and their team of lawyers, PR executives, and producers thought that in the interests of fair reporting and cancellation avoidance, it would be much better to feature Heroic Natives than the Heinous Natives episode that was originally scheduled for today — possibly by a young intern who they will have summarily fired. As soon as they can find her.

So, it’s time for a little native love — which is more about a continent than a country. Because, from sweet little self-seeders, to perennial star performers, to the what-the-hell-is-that shrubs and trees, these North American native plants genuinely earn that shiny halo. No grudging admissions. No pressure. No caveats. Well, almost no caveats.
