Somewhere this morning, someone slid on a pair of Meta’s new Starfire glasses and woke up to Kylie Jenner’s voice saying exactly that.

Meta licensed her voice, collaborated with her on the design, and fitted the frame with a little gem on the lens and a vanity mirror in the case.

Then Meta did the part almost nobody is reading correctly.

It launched the whole thing like a fashion house.

A full product assortment, three frame styles across 26 SKUs of colorways, materials, and lenses, all under its own name, with the Ray-Ban and Oakley logos stripped off.

This was one of several glasses moments in the last 2 weeks, and they connect if you know where to look. Let me explain.

  • Prada announced an Asia edition with Gentle Monster.

  • Gentle Monster is partnering with Google for Android XR glasses launching Fall 2026.

  • EssilorLuxottica, the group that manufactures Prada’s eyewear, is also Meta’s eyewear partner. Zuck also sat front row at Prada this past season.

  • When Google revealed its Android XR glasses at Google I/O, the walk-on song was Charli XCX.

  • Charli XCX is a global brand ambassador for Nothing who also holds an equity stake in it, a company building glasses of its own. (I’m pretty sure nobody else caught this last one.)

There’s a connective thread running through all of it. It just takes someone like me to map the lines and what they mean commercially.

I coined Wearable Fashion Tech™ in 2024, after calling for exactly this on Twitter Spaces as far back as 2022. The test is simple.

You want it on your face because it’s a fashion accessory that happens to be smart, not a gadget cosplaying as one.

Wearable tech is function first, the Apple Watch and the Oura ring, where tech people wear them and fashion people tolerate them.

Fashion tech is technology pointed at the industry, virtual try-on and AI styling.

Wearable Fashion Tech™ is the piece you actually want to wear.

Right now, the question that should be on everyone’s mind is this:
Is Meta building a Maison for AI glasses?

  • The Maison move, and why it is smarter than it looks

  • The Wearable Fashion Tech™ Scorecard: 10 glasses graded

  • The Kylie edition dissected: casting, gem, and the deal

  • Meta Glasses launch event and social comment receipts

  • Are we there yet? Who is closest, who is furthest

  • The billion-dollar product nobody has built

🔑 Unlock the FULL Case Study with Wearable Fashion Tech™ scorecard, the deal Meta should have signed, and the billion dollar product hiding in plain sight. One company is closer than the timeline says, and it isn't the one charging $2,195.
