(Mariblock) - Non-nationals of the country can now hold rights to the country’s mineral resources by investing in the Sango coin.

The National Assembly of the Central African Republic (CAR) recently passed a law on the tokenization of its natural resources, potentially creating channels for cryptocurrency-based foreign investments in the country.

The president of CAR’s National Assembly, Simplice Mathieu Sarandji, made the new development known on Monday, May 29.

The new law for the tokenization of land and mineral resources, establishes a comprehensive framework for incorporating Bitcoin and Sango virtual currencies into the investment process.

(Cointelegraph) - While social giving is seen as a key element in supporting the international development agenda, managing donations requires end-to-end clarity on the movement of funds. In its current state, donation management lacks reliable traceability features, making it difficult for donors to understand how their contributions are being used. The lack of transparency, coupled with the inefficient bureaucratic processes of cross-border fund transfers, creates a barrier that discourages potential donors from reaching out to regions in need.

Blockchain offers a dependable solution to the struggles encored by the social giving landscape. Because every transaction made on a blockchain is publicly traceable, donors can easily track where their donations end up. However, even with a reliable blockchain that provides transparency along the social giving process, there’s still a missing link in ensuring the recipient gets easy access to the funds. Since crypto is not widely accepted as a payment method, recipients need a fiat off-ramp to convert donations into local currency.

Local crypto exchange to off-ramp donations

To address this issue, the Fruits Eco-Blockchain Project announced the launch of a series of local crypto exchanges, starting with Tanzania.

(Cointelegraph) - The central bank released its statement in response to comments on a CBDC discussion paper published in February 2022.

The Central Bank of Kenya received comments on a discussion paper on the potential issuance of a digital shilling and hasn’t reached a definitive conclusion.

In a June 2 announcement on Twitter, Kenya’s central bank said it received more than 100 comments from members of the public, commercial banks, tech firms and other participants across nine countries regarding the issuance of a central bank digital currency, or CBDC. The responses varied from highlighting potential benefits and risks, but the central bank said it would “continue to monitor developments” and take a “measured approach" to consider assessing the rollout of a digital shilling in the future.

(Cryptoslate) - The intersection of Beijing's web3 White Paper & Hong Kong's crypto regulation push; a new era for digital assets in the region?

On May 27, Beijing released an “Internet 3.0 Innovation and Development” white paper outlining advancements and support for Internet 3.0 (web3) and the metaverse, according to reports from Chinese media, ThePaper.

However, as Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) highlighted on Twitter, the white paper’s publication is just days from the upcoming June 1 application opening for Hong Kong cryptocurrency exchanges.

“Interesting timing on this Web 3.0 white paper from the Beijing government tech committee with the June 1st anticipation in Hong Kong.”

The simultaneous release of Beijing’s web3 white paper and Hong Kong’s regulatory push for cryptocurrency exchanges may signal the beginning of a more open approach to digital assets in the region.
