Last Ride of the 4 Horsemen is the tale of Cager Dobbin, a local hired gun, and his battle to survive and destroy the monstrous, Apocalyptic Horsemen who emerge, one by one from nowhere, to obliterate his town of Promise.
But why did the Horsemen target his town? Why did they hunt him and his circle to near annihilation? What unseen master unleashes them on the world? And what arcane power do they wield so destructively?
Over the 264 pages of story in these three volumes of Last Ride of the 4 Horsemen, Cager embarks on a quest to answer those harrowing questions and, in so doing, must overcome his old frenemy Wilbur Fairless - in many lethal forms - on his mission of vengeance against the celestial forces that ignited the Steampunk Apocalypse.
Twelve comics launched over August 21–22 — $29,576 raised from 556 backers. None of the slate was NSFW this round.
The Ministry of Supernatural Warfare raised $13,635 against a $5,000 goal on its own — 46% of every comics dollar that moved across both days combined.
Three of today’s four Comics I Like picks also landed in the overall Top 4 by funding — Brides #2, Legend of Oz: Junjur’s Quest Part 2, and Killtopia: Phantoms #2 outraised everything except Ministry.

Cook’s Killtopia universe has already delivered one full arc and a fulfilled Phantoms #1 to backers, so Phantoms #2 isn’t asking anyone to take the neon-soaked, mech-fighting, Junji-Ito-adjacent horror on faith — it’s a known team continuing a story that’s already proven it can land in hand. The Neo Tokyo mass-mind-hack hook this arc is chasing is exactly the kind of high-concept genre mashup that makes Killtopia worth tracking issue to issue.

Garner’s premise — Frankenstein’s would-be bride reborn as a vampire, hunting Dracula’s own Brides while Van Helsing and the vampire courts close in from opposite directions — is a genuinely clever inversion of two classic-monster set pieces at once, and Sixus1’s painted horror-pinup cover work has never looked better than it does here. It’s already blown past its modest $1,000 goal more than fivefold, which tracks for a publisher whose “get-it-done” reputation precedes it.

Hutchison’s long-running Wicked West reimagining of Oz — Dorothy and Toto dropped into a gunslinger’s West by way of a twister, three years lost before this arc even begins — has the kind of sustained mythology-building that only comes from a creator who’s been at this for over a decade. Part 2 raises the stakes considerably: General Jinjur and the Nomes have found something woven into the fabric of Oz itself, and Ozma’s discovery turns the whole arc into a race.

Yeo’s new four-issue mini brings in an entirely fresh cast — three investigators, two mysteries, one tangled web, per the cover copy — built around a child-abduction case, an elusive thief, and a romantic triangle nobody involved seems thrilled about. It’s a confident genre-blend pitch from a creator eleven Kickstarters deep, and it deserves a look precisely because the numbers below don’t reflect that experience — this is exactly the kind of book that gets lost in a crowded launch week without someone pointing at it.

Six comics, $321, nine backers — and it’s not about genre or experience. Half of this slate — TEAM CANAVERAL’s BLASTOFF!! #2 (4 backers), The Trinity Agency #1 (3), STAY DOWN (1), Thee Black Apple vol 3 (1), Real Tales from the not so Real Realms (0), and PiZZA #1 - Page 01 (0) — pulled in a combined $321 against $29,576 raised across the full slate. Genre isn’t the thread: those six span crime/romance, boxing horror, ensemble fantasy, horror anthology, and coming-of-age webcomic, with no overlap. Creator experience isn’t a clean predictor either — STAY DOWN’s Will and Real Tales’ Katiana Rivers are genuine first-time Kickstarter creators, but TEAM CANAVERAL and PiZZA’s Marcel The Loser have each run one prior campaign and still show zero backed projects on their own accounts, while The Trinity Agency’s John Yeo Jr (eleven prior Kickstarters, 35 backed) and Thee Black Apple’s Jamison King (four prior Kickstarters, 64 backed) are established, active members of the platform’s own backer community — and still landed at 3 and 1 backers respectively.
What the six do share: two are anthologies (BLASTOFF!!, Black Apple), a format that splits its pitch across many contributors instead of one clear hook; and several set goals sized for a following that hasn’t materialized yet — STAY DOWN and Real Tales both opened $5,000 asks and are sitting at $20 and $0. Compare that to this slate’s biggest funders, which mostly set goals matched to a known audience (Universals Initiative’s $100 goal, Brides #2’s $1,000 goal) and blew past them within the day. Goal-setting discipline, not genre or resume, looks like the sharper differentiator here.
Editor’s picks nearly swept the podium. Three of today’s four Comics I Like selections — Brides #2, Legend of Oz: Junjur’s Quest Part 2, and Killtopia: Phantoms #2 — landed at #2, #3, and #4 in day-1 funding, trailing only Ministry of Supernatural Warfare. The exception, The Trinity Agency #1, is the whole reason the Comics I Like section exists: a pick made on the strength of the book, not the backer count.
Extraordinarily unusual. PiZZA #1 - Page 01 launched with a $1 funding goal — not a typo, a genuinely symbolic ask from a webcomic that’s clearly not counting on Kickstarter dollars to get made. It’s also the shortest fuse in the slate, closing in just 5 days.

Windlesham’s Folly is an illustrated transcript of the (in-universe) final, infamous episode of folkloric podcast “A Wyrd Turn” — the 2008 broadcast that went viral, got compared to Ghostwatch, and left a lingering “what if it was real” question mark over British folklore ever since. Bell, a Brighton-based horror specialist whose credits include an Arthur Machen adaptation, is well-suited to the found-footage-as-comic conceit. PiZZA #1 - Page 01 kicks off a coming-of-age webcomic following Univer City sophomore Aaron Tomorrow through status anxiety, nightmares nobody in his world is supposed to remember, and a “rich lore, silly action, mega city vibes” tone the creator credits to Dav Pilkey and Akira Toriyama. It’s page one of what’s pitched as a much longer serialized story, with chapter one already underway per the campaign’s own “Behind the Scenes” updates. The $1 symbolic goal (see The View from the Gutter) marks this as closer to a webcomic pledge drive than a traditional funding campaign.
