South Asia Institute presents a celebration of Kuchipudi — featuring Srivani Vokkarane, Artistic Director of Kaivalya Arts. Three devotional relationships with Krishna explored through expressive movement, theatrical storytelling, and Carnatic music. The program culminates in the Tarangam, where the dancer performs astonishing rhythmic sequences while balancing atop the rim of a brass plate. A curator talk introduces the themes before the performance.

ISAC Museum After Hours: The Bestiary of Ancient Nubia — Saturday August 8, 4–7pm · Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures Museum, 1155 E 58th St, Hyde Park · tickets required

After-hours access to the galleries with knowledgeable docents, a screening of a short documentary featuring three contemporary artists of Sudanese heritage whose work is exhibited alongside ancient Nubian artifacts, followed by music, dancing, and traditional Sudanese refreshments in the courtyard. A portion of proceeds donated to the Sudanese American Physicians Association.
