The Anchoress · The Anchoress Substack

Back in 2016, a little album that no one thought would do very much (it wasn’t even pressed on vinyl at first), somehow went on win the Limelight Award at the 2016 Progressive Music Awards, and people started talking about it as “the 21st Century ‘Hounds Of Love’.” I was just really chuffed that I’d got to finish a record at all, and that after three years of juggling a multitude of part time jobs and a PhD, I’d found a label that wanted to release it. No one expected it would do that much…

Fast forward to 2021 and The Art Of Losing was voted the writers Album Of The Year and it started a domino effect of a tidal wave of critical acclaim that no one, least of all me, had expected.

In a time where complex and serious work has been somewhat out of fashion, the writers and fans at Prog Magazine have always been steadfast supporters throughout my music career. A natural fit perhaps for a girl that grew up idolising Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel, and who had always wanted to make big, ambitious records…

So I am beyond thrilled to be gracing the cover of Issue 172 for a special bundle to celebrate the release of my new album, As We Once Were, next week.

This special bundle comes with a signed lyric sheet and exclusive t-shirt design that you won’t be able to buy anywhere else.

You'll get a fantastic As We Once Were t-shirt, exclusive to Prog readers (and one you won't find on the merch stand), a lyric sheet for Stop The World from the new album (signed by my newly repaired bionic hand) and an issue of Prog 172, with a special Anchoress front cover, and four page feature all about the new record.

Grab your special bundle before they sell out!
