Recap: Sal, as the final checker of the preparations for the summer festival, makes it clear the go-ahead for the festival can now happen. But it takes Gottlob’s heft, as the magic cart, to “bring” the main attraction in!
(The previous strip in this story arc can be found here.)
Scenario & transcript:
(1st panel - to a brightly colored backdrop of solid colored circular patterns on the ground and many multi-colored flowers from Eulalia, Sal, holding what appears to be a clipboard with a checklist, asks Zoot if the part he is involved with is ready.)
Sal: Is your part about ready?
Zoot: Just about!
(2P - against the same backdrop, Zoot calls out to the rest of the band - Algy, Lol, Topper, and Fuzz, with Fred, the Piano of Destiny, Waldorf the bassoon, and Timmy the triangle, and Claremont riding along.)
Zoot: Okay fellers? Bub? Gottlob - bring it on in!
(3P - Bub rides on top of Gottlob, the magic cart, who is pulling with a strong line leding off-panel.)
Bub: Okay guys! Hit it full tilt ‘n’ grease it up!
Gottlob (thinks - [Groan! Sigh!] How is it that I get shanghai’d into these things?)
(4P - What is revealed at the end of the line is a large wheeled platform with the whole band playing, except for Fred.)
Zoot: I’m coming for my piano bit! Gimme eight more bars!
Gottlob (off-panel): My poor rheumatic back!
Claremont Boy, you gotta carry that weight.
Fred: He’d better hurry! And bring my foot pedals!
Lol: Huzzah!
Quote: Boy, you gotta carry that weight.
