I thought it might be fun to share a little about what’s keeping me entertained this Summer and share a few other updates about work and life, so here goes.
At the seasoned age of forty-four, I purchased my first record player. I’m not even sure why, but I suspect in a world that’s becoming more and more digital, I’m grasping for something physical.
It’s a Victrola The Empire 6-in-1 device.
My first two record purchases were the Night Moves album by Bob Seger from 1976 and the Big Modern album by Goose (my favorite band) released this year.
My favorite movie this year is Project Hail Mary. Everything about it is exceptional; every minute of this movie is beautiful art. Trust me.
The show I’m watching is called The Agency. It’s slick, exciting, and fun.
Earlier this month, I traveled to California and watched my oldest son graduate from high school. He’s headed off to Berkeley next for college. I’m so proud of this guy.
I also visited family and friends while there.
Pictured in the center are my mom and brother, and on the right is my good friend Kyle. We served in the military and deployed to Iraq together. His friend Maureen is with us; I’m holding her wine, and it’s a privilege.
Kyle and Maureen have given me so many laughs over the years, I feel indebted to them. Every time I visit, we make something fun together. Here’s a look at our most recent creative project, Mama Don’t Play.
June 21st was Father's Day and my grandfather’s 91st birthday. His name is Louie, but I call him Papa. He’s an Air Force Veteran, who has been a leader in my family since day one. He taught me what a good man looks and acts like.
We’ve begun casting my next movie, Texas Sins. I started writing the script during post-production of my first film, The Beast of Trinity Texas.
The story took me a year to complete, and now a team of producers and I are working on the development and pre-production. It is going to be an exciting journey bringing this movie to life. You can follow it here:
The Texas Sins story was inspired by Whitewashed Tomb, my second Eli Ridge novel. You can check that book out and the others I’ve published below.
The Beast of Trinity Texas continues to spread and entertain people around the world. I’m very happy with what we’ve achieved since its release in November of last year, so I’m sending massive thanks to those who’ve helped make it possible.
The movie took more than 200 people to create and was by far the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Here’s a fun look at what it took to create just one scene for the movie.

I believe that if I continue to pursue this creative life, one that’s focused on making things that benefit others, I’ll be taken care of.
Life is brutal at times, and we all need a healthy escape—this is more valuable than most realize—and my goal is to provide that escape.
It’s my mission, what I plan to do for the rest of my life.
