When I flew to Utah, I packed for two days, knowing I’d wear the same thing on the flight out and back. It’s the lightest I’ve packed in years, but I knew given the purpose of the trip that I wouldn’t be doing anything other than spending time at my parent’s house.

Then, when I extended my trip, I not only had to change where I was staying (my Airbnb was booked out), but I had to make do with the very few clothes I packed and mix and match.

Per usual, direct links to shop the exact items are below each photo. If you want to save something for later without losing the links, LTK is the easiest way I’ve found to do that. And, it’ll notify you if something goes on sale, which is a feature I love. ShopMy may have this feature too… I just haven’t figured it out yet. But, you can always find all of my outfits on ShopMy too.

I love this top with these shorts since the color of the shorts feels less feminine so I like the contrast with a frilly shirt. And while I’ve gotten away from Amazon fashion over the last few years, I cannot stop wearing this shirt. It’s such a good find. Multiple friends texted me after they saw me share it online that they bought it and love it too.

I’m not sure I would have paired these shorts and tee together had I not run out of clothes. But I actually liked how this outfit turned out - other than the sandals…

I wore these sandals all summer but it was on this trip that I realized that they look ridiculously big. I always struggle to know if I need a 6.5 or a 7 and often have to exchange shoes. I hate when it looks like my foot barely fits on a sandal but I think it looks worse to look like it’s too big. I consigned these and I’ll stick with my Target dupes for the rest of the summer and then try to find a better option next summer.

  • Shorts - Size 26 Curve Love. I like to do Curve Love since I hate denim shorts that are too tight in the booty.

  • Top - I’m wearing a size S; it’s oversized, so you could size down if you want a closer fit

  • Tote - This is great to travel with since it folds flat in a suitcase. It’s also my top pick for a mom purse.

  • Sandals

It’s funny how a little half tuck and the shoes totally changes the look. I don’t like this combo at all, even though it’s so similar to the one above. It just feels… average. Boxy. And that’s fine, but it’s not going to be a combo I repeat at home like I will the one above.

  • Shorts - Size 26 Curve Love

  • Tee - Size Small

  • Tote

  • Sneakers- Vejas run in European sizing. I wear a US 6.5/7 and always get a size 37.

I wore this on the flight out (and I explained why I ventured into a dress for flying in this post). My only complaint is that the dress doesn’t have pockets, but otherwise, this dress is 10/10 and 100% worth the price if you like to wear things for years. (If you like more casual travel outfits, I’ve got you covered.)

  • Dress - super pricey but it’s the dress I wore most this summer and I know I’ll wear it for years to come. It’s 50% off right now, although final sale, but sizing is forgiving enough that it’s worth it.

  • Shoes - I wear a US 6.5/7 and always get a size 37

  • Suitcase - an AWAY dupe! I actually like the Quince version better since it has better pockets inside, but I think the wheels are slightly inferior to my beloved AWAY.

  • Tote

  • I didn’t travel with my pillow but I did have it delivered to my hotel (lol) and took it to my mom’s house to keep there.

I really struggled for a few days after I got home - I was emotionally and physically exhausted, but since I was trying to get back in the groove of things, I got ready just to try to feel normal - but I wanted to be cozy. I love this skirt from Target (it reminds me of Spanx and Varley) and when I added a necklace, this felt like a real outfit instead of athleisure (which I’m iffy on). I think I’d do different shoes next time but maybe the flip flops are why the outfit works.

I feel like I’m hot and cold with matching sets but this summer I really like them. But I took too long to exchange it for a bigger size, so now I feel like I don’t have much time to wear it before it feels out of season, so hopefully I still like it next year.

I’m also iffy on the sandals. I think they are pretty but they’re narrow and they don’t exactly feel easy to wear. I had black flip flops on first but it felt too beachy with the stripes, so I went with the dressier sandals. Next time I’d try pairing it with these strappy beauties from Amazon that I love.

I was inspired last week to get even more ruthless with what I keep in my closet since most items I have work with each other, as I learned in Utah. I realized recently that I actually sort of keep a capsule wardrobe, but I just get in the habit of the same combinations. But when you’re out of clothes, you have to mix it up.

Would y’all enjoy a Live video when I do my next closet clean out to help you see how I decide what to keep and toss? Leave a comment and let me know!
