If you’ve been here for a while, you know I’m usually the person who goes a little overboard with the food - especially when we’re inviting people into our home. 😂
This time, though, we had a big guest list, and I didn’t want to spend the entire party stressed in the kitchen. We also kicked things off at 3 p.m., which is that awkward in-between time where it’s not quite lunch and not quite dinner.
But let’s be honest, you don’t come to my house and not eat. So I kept things a little simpler than usual while still making everything fit the farm theme. Here’s what we served!
“Farm Fresh Eggs”...which were really just deviled eggs. 😂 They were one of the biggest hits on the food table and got so many compliments. This is the recipe I used!
The “Chicken Coop” was stocked with Just Bare chicken nuggets along with some Chick-fil-A sauce because every party needs something easy that both kids and adults will happily eat.
For dessert, I picked up Nothing Bundt Cupcakes. They were the perfect individual size, so everyone could grab one without having to cut and serve cake.
We also had “Little Piggies” (pigs in a blanket sprinkled with Everything Bagel seasoning) and fresh fruit from the “Orchard” to round everything out.
To drink, I kept it simple with bottled water, a variety of canned beverages for the adults, and Honest Kids juice boxes for the little ones. It was easy, low-maintenance, and gave everyone something they were happy to sip on throughout the party.
Here’s everything I picked up for the food section of the party:
The decor was a mix of Hobby Lobby finds, Amazon purchases, and one little DIY project that took way longer than I expected. 😂 But it was so worth it.
I love making Ruby something by hand for each of her birthdays. Last year, I made her birthday plate and her cake. I thought about making the cake again this year, but I was really trying to keep this party as low-lift as possible. Sometimes it’s nice to pick one special thing to pour your energy into and let everything else be easy.
Here’s the diagram I used to bring the barn to life! It definitely made the project feel a lot less intimidating, and having the dimensions planned out ahead of time saved me from a lot of trial and error.
Here’s everything I picked up for the decor section of the party:
Me to myself: “Taylor, keep it casual.”
Also me: “…What if we just hired a petting zoo?” 😂
We’ve been to a handful of birthday parties now, and one thing I’ve realized is that at age two, there aren’t a ton of organized games the kids can actually play. Which left me wondering...what are we going to do at this party?
A bounce house was the obvious answer, but I have a hard time doing what everyone else is doing. So naturally, my mind went to...a traveling petting zoo.
It was seriously one of the best decisions we made. The kids were completely entertained, the adults loved it just as much, and it fit our little farm theme perfectly.
