TAKE Resource Center · The TAKE-Away: TAKE's Monthly Newsletter

Welcome to the TAKE-Away, TAKE’s monthly newsletter sharing updates about our life-saving work with those of you who make it possible.

Ahead, check out 3 TAKE-Aways for March 2026:

Trans Day of Visibility is an annual event dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of the struggles that trans people continue to face in our unequitable society.

If you’re in Alabama, join us at the TAKE Resource Center in Birmingham on Saturday, March 28th for our 13th annual TDOV Empowerment and Fun Day on the Lawn, cosponsored by Alabama Equality and ALTRAC. There will be food, games, live DJ, and information about how to fight back against anti-trans legislation in AL.

If you’re in Pennsylvania, join us at the State Capitol in Harrisburg on Sunday, March 29th at 2pm to show trans youth that there are hundreds across PA who love, support, and stand with them in a time of horrific attacks by the current administration in Washington and by many hateful school boards around PA. See Facebook event here.

On February 13th, TAKE hosted another successful Love Connection, our annual Valentine’s Day Community Mixer, which brought performances, food, connection, and good vibes to our community members.

On February 21st, volunteer leaders with TAKE’s PA Coalition for Trans Youth and Civic Engagement Programs came together in Philadelphia for a Strategic Planning Retreat where we planned out our roadmap for the rest of the year and how to successfully advocate for the policies that we’ve written to help trans kids thrive, like our Safe & Equal Schools bills. We have several incredible parents of trans youth who are involved who are not pictured for their anonymity, but we always want to shout them out for being the true drivers of our work at TAKE in PA!

On February 26th, TAKE’s Healthy Educational Living Prevention program offered free, confidential HIV Testing in partnership with UAB Research Department, to make sure everyone knows their status and can take care of their health at no cost-and without stigma.

“As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we must continue to recognize the importance of women’s rights and the work that still lies ahead. For far too long, systems have been put in place that create division and competition among us rather than unity. Now more than ever, we must remain committed to dismantling those systems of harm. Let’s continue building intentional frameworks that uplift, empower, and advance the movement. Most importantly, let’s show up in solidarity for all women because when one of us rises, we all rise.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to learn about the work of TAKE, I invite you to follow us on all social media platforms and stay connected to the work we’re doing in community. And most importantly, join us as we celebrate impact, leadership, and resilience at our 9th Annual LGBTQ Service Awards Gala and 13th Anniversary Celebration in April. Your support helps us continue investing in programs and resources that uplift our community.
