It’s so exciting—my first article has been published in the Catholic Virginian! The column is called Believe as you Pray. Its goal is to help people prepare for the scripture readings we will hear at Mass the upcoming weekend.
For me writing is a process of revelation. I start putting words together and rearranging them until a picture emerges, an ah-ha moment. It feels like putting a puzzle together.
This particular assignment taught me an important lesson in the first sentence: “I can’t, Lord.” After writing the article I read it back to myself and It occurred to me that the first part and the second part oppose each other.
If God asks me to do something, there is NO WAY that I can’t. If he is Lord of my life, I will do what he asks of me, trusting in his goodness and power. There is no such thing as “I can’t, Lord”.
I believe Lord, help my unbelief.
