This week was a lot. Back to school is sneaking up on me the way it always does. You know it’s coming, and it still catches you off guard. And every year it’s this mix of dread that our slow-paced summer is coming to an end and the excitement to get back into a routine. This year feels especially, well, a lot, because it’s Parker’s senior year. How did that happen?!
And then Thursday afternoon, our power went out. For 14 hours. By midnight, we got the 4th alert that it was still not coming back on anytime soon, we were all melting and so we packed up the car for a last-minute hotel. Not exactly the plan for a Thursday night. But it also made me sit with how much there is to be grateful for in a mess like that — we have AC most days, and we could book that hotel without a second thought. Easy to lose sight of that until you don’t have it.
Silver lining, always.
So that’s where my head’s at this week. Onward.
This one was a bit of a pivot — I had a whole different outfit planned, but when this one-shoulder polka dot dress from Target arrived, it was an immediate “tear out of the package and try on” situation. It’s under $40, and it works with sandals, flats, heels, or boots. I see myself wearing this to the Ella Langley concert this month, the back to school happy hour, and a date night with Michael.
Lots of options for something that costs $36. And I not-so-secretly love that I haven’t seen every single influencer posting about it.
Hair elastic. Belt. Game changer.
If your belt end won’t lay flat, or your pants/skirt have no belt loops to hold it down, loop a clear elastic around the end. Invisible, and it actually works.
Sheet pan fajitas, inspired by Sivan’s Kitchen. I have a graveyard of saved Instagram recipes I’ve never actually made. I have already made it twice and it is literally off the charts good. One pan, weeknight easy. Officially in the school year rotation.
