Hi everyone! My apologies for missing yesterday’s issue - I’ve been traveling to squeeze out one last family vacation for summer and it’s been more chaotic than anticipated!
We should be back on our normal schedule tomorrow, but I wanted to take a quick moment to flag a few trainings, actions and events over the next few days.
TONIGHT at 8PM ET, Indivisible’s Hands Off Our Vote Program will be holding the second of its two election protection basic trainings. We’ll get hands-on guidance for activating voters in our community, becoming a trusted messenger people turn to for accurate information, preparing for election defense scenarios before they happen, and getting our team ready for fall activations. This is the second training in a two-part series, and it builds on the first without repeating .No worries if we missed the first one, we can still sign up, and get the recording and materials from both sessions either way. ❎ We can find out more and sign up here (and of course we can find our full list of election protection volunteer opportunities here!) ❎
ELECTION PROTECTION 201, TONIGHT AT 8PM
TONIGHT AT 7PM ET and TOMORROW AT 6PM ET, the Environmental Voter Project will be holding phonebanks aiming to turn out low-propensity green voters in Maine, where the Senate may be decided, and New Hampshire, where the control of the state government is up for grabs. Polls consistently suggest the American public is pro-climate action, and we need to make sure the electorate reflects that majority! ☎️ We can sign up to make calls with EVP here. ☎️
GREEN THE VOTE, TONIGHT AND TOMORROW
ALSO TOMORROW AT 6PM ET, we have a chance to help flip a badly-gerrymandered district in Ohio and get a violent thug and Trump favorite out of the House of Representatives. Brian Poindexter, a city councilman and union ironworker, is taking on GOP incumbent Max Miller, who has been accused of disgusting acts of abuse by his ex-wife against both her and their child, and they’re running weekly phonebank shifts to rally the electorate in the northeastern part of the state. ☎️ We can sign up to help unset this creep here, and find more ways to help win these midterms here. ☎️
PHONEBANK AGAINST MAX MILLER, TMW AT 6PM
TOMORROW AT 8PM ET, Freedom Trainers and the Grassroots Democracy Initiative are holding their next community strike readiness trainings, talking us through the practical steps of what it takes to go from solidarity in words to solidarity in action and how we can build the capacity to take general strikes from hope to reality. ✊🏻 We can sign up to get Strike Ready or register for their next session on September 23rd here. ✊🏿
GET GENERAL STRIKE READY, TMW AT 8PM
Throughout the day tomorrow, National Nurses United will be holding Patients Over Palantir actions in multiple cities across the country. Nurses will be leading coordinated rallies and actions to demand “Palantir Out” of our hospitals and out of our of society, and they hope to have many powerful community partners and allies join. 🪧 We can join them in LA, Palo Alto, Chicago, DC, Asheville, Austin, New Orleans, and Portland, Maine, and sign up to get updated on future actions targeting this mass surveillance profit center here. 🪧
